The Trip

The trip started with two days of drama training. It was really fun but hard to remember all the details.

The day we flew to Panama everyone was really excited but it made for a long day. It took forever to go through customs when we got to Panama.

The next two days were ministry. The first day we went to a high school and we performed the drama twice. It was really cool to work with people our own age. The next day we went to the beach and cleaned up some garbage.

The next was Sunday so we had a morning service then we had a little freetime. In the evening we went to these workshops. We got to choose two that we wanted to to do. I did one about hearing god's voice which was really good and then I did one about making balloon animals and using it in ministry. It was really fun. After the workshops we had a concert by Melinda Watts.

The next two days were ministry and we did the drama at a school one day. We perfromed three times and we tried making balloon animals but it didn't work becuase there were too many kids. We got to go to the Embera tribe on day which was really fun. We went on this hike through the rainforest and got to swim under this waterfall. then we went to a village and they fed us tilapia and fried plantains. They also showed us some traditional dancing.

The next day was a free day and we got to go to our excursions. My first one was an aerial tram ride. We went up to this tower and we could see the Chagres river the Panama Canal. The other excursions were a boat trip to monkey island and a butterfly house along with some other exhibits.

After that we had our last two ministry days. We performed the drama in schools both days. It was really tiring by the end of the last day.

The last full day in Panama we went shopping at an Indian market. We all bought a lot of souvenirs. We also got to go to the Panama Canal where we watched a ship go through one of the gates.

Finally on the next day it was time to leave Panama. It was kind of hard to leave my team but at the same time, I was ready to come home. We had a long day. We left the hotel at 2:00 p.m. Our flight left at 6:40 and we finally got to the hotel in Miami around 12:30 a.m. I got about three hours of sleep because I had to be in the lobby by 5:00 a.m.

Our flight from Miami to California went great but we had a little mix up with our connecting flight and missed it. Luckily we got on the next flight to Portland free of charge. God really did take care of everything.

Miami

So, I flew out of Portland at midnight lastnight, had a one hour layover in Houston then I was on my way to Miami. The flight was alright but there was some turbulance.

When I got here I met two of my roommates. Then I decided to go for a swim since it was so humid. When I came back I met the rest of my roommates for Miami and we are just hanging out waiting for dinner.

I am so excited for this trip. We went shopping last Wednesday and also yesterday and I was able to get everything that I need with plenty of money left over for spending money.

I can't believe there is only a little over a week before this trip. One of my team leaders set up a facebook group for our team so I've been able to learn a little about the people on my team through that.

I want to thank you all again for your support. I also want to ask that you pray for me from now until the end of the trip. Pray that God keep me safe while traveling and during the trip and also pray that He will make this the best experience that it could possibly be.

5 Weeks

5 Weeks. 2 weeks of school. 2 weeks of relaxing. 1 week of VBS. Then, before I know it, I'll be on a plane to Miami. As my trip to Panama comes closer, I am getting more and more excited but I am also getting more and more nervous. I ask for your prayers that God would calm my nerves and help this to be the best experience it could possibly be.

Good News. I received my packing list and thanks to all your prayers and donations, God has provided me with just enough money to pay for everything. I also got some information about some excursions that I will have the opportunity to do on one of the free days. These excursions include a boat trip to monkey island. There  are three excursions total that cost an additional 75 dollars. I have enough money to pay for all three.

Once again, thanks for all your prayers and support. I'll keep you posted.

Donations

First of all I want to thank every one that has been making this trip possible for me. Whether you sent donations or have been praying for me it has really helped. My trip is completely payed for. I have about 400 dollars left over to buy bibles and whatever else happens to be on the packing list. I haven't gotten it yet but when I do I'll update about how much more it will cost me. If you would still like to support me financially make sure that checks are written out to me and not to Big World Ventures. Once again I will be keeping you posted about how much the rest of the things I need to get will cost. Keep me in your prayers.

In Christ,
Becca

Amazing Oppurtunity

This summer I have an amazing opportunity. I get to go to Panama. I am going on a missions trip through Big World Ventures that is conjunction with Susie Mag. It's a scary thought especially because I've never really been away from home. Even though I have some fear about going on this trip, I am also really excited.

The trip cost about $3000. Today I will be sending my final payment but I'm not done fundraising yet. I really want to buy some bibles to give to the people there. I also need money to buy rain gear since July is the rainy season in Panama.

July second is the big day. I'll be flying from Portland to Miami and staying in Miami for 3 days. On July fifth I will fly with my team to Panama. July 15th I'll be flying back to Miami and on July 16th I'll be flying home to Glenwood.

I'll be keeping this blog until after the trip and during the trip I'll try to update at least once every other night.

Thanks for praying for me.
